Food that was homogenized and where rice was replaced with rice flour resulted in subjects absorbing less iron then when it was a normal non-homogenized meal. The trial data used in H. Brown's article "Go with your gut" (NYT 2006). Our bodies make better use of macronutrients within our food if we can identify and like the food (instead of it being an unidentifiable blended gruel).
