Is Obesity Due to a Heritable Difference in 'Set Point' for Adiposity?

Authors: Leibel, R.L.
This is an editorial comment. "The set point does not seem to encode a specific level of food intake or energy output but rather an amount or proportion of fatness. Thus, obese and never-obese persons regulate normally about their "usual" body compositions,  making adjustments in food intake and energy expenditure that are appropriate to the maintenance of that degree of weight. Intake and output become matched once a specified level of fat storage is achieved."
