Placebo Response in Studies of Major Depression

Authors: Walsh, T.B., Seidman, S.N., Sysko, R., Gould, M.
This is a discussion about the continuance of placebo-based trials for testing efficacy of medication for major depressive disorder. The point being, that technically if a previous SSRIs works then it would be better to test a new one against the previous rather than a placebo, however these authors come down on the side of continuing with placebo-based trials precisely because there is no SSRI that appears to work above that of what could be expected from a placebo [site owner words in that last part obviously].
